UNC Health Pardee Welcomes Family Medicine Physician Dr. Leila Van Gemert to Brevard Practice
UNC Health Pardee is pleased to announce the addition of Leila Van Gemert, DO, to its esteemed team of healthcare providers at Pardee BlueMD - 1409 Asheville Hwy in Brevard. Dr. Van Gemert, a specialist in family medicine with subspecialties in pediatrics and women’s health, brings a wealth of expertise and a holistic approach to patient care.
Dr. Van Gemert was drawn to the active, small-town community of Brevard and the camaraderie at Pardee. She has a keen interest in managing chronic conditions and addressing urgent care needs, finding the diverse aspects of family medicine particularly engaging. “I can see someone in their 90s and then walk into a well-child exam,” Dr. Van Gemert said. “You can go from treating an ear infection to chronic diabetes care and I love this kind of variety that family medicine provides.”
She is board-certified in family medicine and received notable training in procedures such as skin excisions, joint injections, and osteopathic manipulative therapy. Additionally, her research on obesity in pregnancy highlights her commitment to advancing medical knowledge and improving patient outcomes. In her leisure time, she enjoys cycling, playing board games with her children, cheering at their soccer matches, and reading.
