UNC Health Pardee Offering Mammogram Screenings Through October

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Mammo on the Go, UNC Health Pardee’s mobile mammography bus will be stationed at several locations including stops in Henderson and Buncombe counties, offering breast health screenings for women across the region. Pardee is also offering a free mammogram day on Thursday, Oct. 24.

“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime,” Kristy Capps, RN, BSN, clinical manager of oncology services, UNC Health Pardee, said. “This is why mammograms are essential; because they save lives and are our best tool for detecting breast cancer in its earlier, more treatable stages.” Capps added that she hopes these events will be helpful to women who may have had to cancel or postpone their screenings in the wake of Hurricane Helene.
