UNC Health Pardee Expands Primary Care in Brevard
UNC Health Pardee is pleased to welcome Karen Lewis, DNP, FNP-C, a board-certified family nurse practitioner to Pardee BlueMD - 1409 Asheville Hwy. in Brevard. Lewis joins eight other providers at the practice, offering primary care medical services to patients of all ages beginning at five years old.
Lewis, who was born at Pardee and grew up in Hendersonville, believes the most important thing as a nurse practitioner is listening to and getting to know her patients. “My favorite thing about my specialty is the variety of patients and conditions I might see in a typical day,” Lewis said. “I like working with my patients as a partner in their healthcare and directing them to the right resources.” Having worked in the area before, Karen said she is excited to return to Brevard and reconnect with the patients and staff she formerly worked alongside. When she is not treating patients, Lewis enjoys cooking and being outside with her family. She is accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment, call 828-435-8400.
Each Pardee BlueMD practice is a Federally Qualified Health Center, in partnership with Blue Ridge Health, and a subrecipient of their FQHC status. This status allows both UNC Health Pardee and Blue Ridge Health the ability to more ardently pursue innovation in reducing gaps in care, creating a more seamless delivery model, and improving patient outcomes. Each practice provides comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary healthcare services to all patients, regardless of ability to pay, particularly in the most vulnerable and underserved populations. Pardee BlueMD serves patients throughout Buncombe, Henderson, and Transylvania counties.
