UNC Health Pardee Announces Catering Associate John Murphy as Teammate of the Month
UNC Health Pardee has announced John Murphy, a catering associate in the Nutrition Services department, as its Teammate of the Month. In this role, John is responsible for preparing and delivering meals with the highest standards of quality and presentation.
A veteran of the hospitality industry, John joined Pardee twelve years ago as a cook and eventually moved into the catering position. He said his favorite part of his job is working in an environment that is wholesome and just. “The atmosphere of the hospital is about caring and there are many good people here,” John said. “I am honored to be acknowledged for being part of a pillar of this community.” Colleagues describe John as reliable, thoughtful, kind, hard-working, and humble. “John is one of the most dedicated employees,” said a coworker. “The dedication is evident in the presentations when his caterings are delivered. He goes above and beyond each day offering assistance throughout the department.”
The Teammate of the Month award is given to a Pardee employee who positively contributes to achieving the organization’s mission, vision and goals. The award is given to a person selected by a committee of their peers and recognized for going above and beyond their regular duties to support patients, customers, peers, the organization and its community. The Teammate of the Month award showcases the many different roles of keeping a health system, like Pardee, operating and delivering patient-centered, quality care.
