UNC Health Pardee Announces Teammates of the Month

UNC Health Pardee has announced Kerry Jones, administrative assistant, and Sharon Maxwell, cafeteria server, as its Teammates of the Month. The Teammate of the Month award is given to a Pardee employee who positively contributes to achieving the organization’s mission, vision and goals.

 In her role with volunteer services and spiritual care, Jones has a variety of responsibilities including creating on-call schedules for chaplains, fielding calls from prospective volunteers, and notarizing an Advance Directive for a patient. “So much of my job is about relationships,” she said. “To be a part of something that makes a difference in people’s lives every day is rewarding beyond measure.” Jones’ colleagues share that she is a team player, going above and beyond what’s expected of her. “She gets great joy in a being a behind-the-scenes helper, setting others up for success,” a coworker said. “She is gifted in making and maintaining connections that support and enhance everything we do as an organization.”

Colleagues describe Maxwell as professional, kind, hardworking and always willing to lend a hand. A perfect example of her character is told through the lens of a coworker: “Recently, I was delayed getting to the cafeteria and they were serving Caesar salads. I requested one but Sharon said she was out of lettuce,” the colleague shared. She explained how Sharon then took the initiative to use ingredients from the salad bar to create a specially made order. “She was so kind and went out of her way for the customer. It was truly above and beyond.”

The Teammate of the Month is given to a person selected by a committee of their peers and recognized for going above and beyond their regular duties to support patients, customers, peers, the organization and its community. The Teammate of the Month award showcases the many different roles of keeping a health system, like Pardee, operating and delivering patient-centered, quality care.

UNC Health Pardee is a not-for-profit community healthcare system managed by UNC Health. The hospital, founded in 1953, is licensed for 222 acute care beds. Pardee has several locations separate from the main campus, including a comprehensive physician practice network,
