Daren Carley Named Leader of the Quarter for UNC Health Pardee
UNC Health Pardee has announced Daren Carley, director of laboratory services, as its Leader of the Quarter. In this role, Carley’s primary duties include planning, coordinating, and supervising all functions within the lab including testing, training, and staffing and ensuring the lab is providing high-quality services.
Carley, who recently celebrated one year at Pardee, said he chose the organization because of the people, “my favorite part of my job is interacting with staff from his department and others across the system and talking with our patients.” He shares that he also enjoys the times when he gets to educate the younger generations as he interacts with high school students touring the lab. His colleagues describe Carley as helpful and approachable: "he has an open-door policy and when a problem arises he is on top of it.” Those who nominated him said Carley leads by example, “when we are short-staffed, he comes onto the lab floor to help or steps in to assist with blood draws.”
The Leader of the Quarter award is given to a Pardee team member with a director or higher position. The recipient positively contributes to achieving the organization’s mission, vision and goals. This person is selected by a committee of their peers and recognized for going above and beyond their regular duties to support patients, customers, peers, the organization and its community.
