Clinical Nurse Educator Cheryl Edwards, RN Named Team Member of the Month
UNC Health Pardee has announced Cheryl Edwards, RN, an occupational health nurse and clinical nurse educator, as its Team Member of the Month. Edwards works in the Pardee Urgent Care setting and is responsible for updating clinical training guidelines, training staff and treating patients.
Edwards joined Pardee in 2017 after spending 27 years at the bedside as a labor and delivery nurse. She said she was looking for a change and was glad to join Team Member Health, taking care of employees' medical needs. She transitioned to the urgent care setting in 2018 sharing, “I want to see our urgent care grow and be the best.” Edwards said her favorite part of her job is the people she gets to work with side by side in the clinics. Colleagues who nominated her for the award talked about her compassion, sharing, “She makes sure each employee feels appreciated and her kindness and consideration of others is truly admirable.”
The Team Member of the Month award is given to a Pardee team member who positively contributes to achieving the organization’s mission, vision and goals. This person is selected by a committee of their peers and recognized for going above and beyond their regular duties to support patients, customers, peers, the organization and its community. The Team Member of the Month award showcases the many different roles of keeping a health system, like Pardee, operating and delivering patient-centered, quality care.
UNC Health Pardee is a not-for-profit community healthcare system managed by UNC Health. The hospital, founded in 1953, is licensed for 222 acute care beds. Pardee has several locations separate from the main campus, including a comprehensive physician practice network, a cancer center, four urgent care locations and six orthopedic clinics.
