Pardee UNC Health Care Names Lynn Smith, RN, BSN, MSN, Director of Intensive Care and Progressive Care Units

 

Pardee UNC Health Care has named Lynn Smith, RN, BSN, MSN, director of its intensive care unit (ICU) and progressive care unit (PCU). Prior to joining Pardee, Smith was the director of heart failure and medical cardiology services at Mission Health System. During her three-year tenure, she was responsible for the operations of the medical cardiology/heart failure inpatient department and the outpatient advanced cardiac care clinic, which specialized in advanced heart failure, ventricular assist devices (VAD), transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), structural heart programs and cardiac/pulmonary rehab. Smith was also the administrative lead for the system-wide fall reduction program, nursing value analysis committee and handoff committee.

 

Before her role at Mission Health, she served for five years as the director of heart and vascular services at Bon Secours St. Francis in Greenville, South Carolina, a 340-bed acute care hospital.

 

“With her master’s degree in nursing with a focus on leadership and administration, coupled with years of successful leadership of people and services, Lynn is a welcome addition to the clinical leadership team,” said Denise Lucas, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, vice president of clinical services and chief nursing officer at Pardee. “We all look forward to her expertise in serving our most critically ill patients.”

 

Pardee’s ICU is a 12-bed department that cares for medically complex patients with all types of medical and surgical diagnoses.
