The Spiritual Side of Medicine
The vision of the Pastoral Care Department is to nurture
the spiritual consciousness of the people who enter Pardee
in the midst of the multiple social interactions and interpretations
of the healthcare that exists here. This 
involves all who
enter Pardee's doors trying to recognize, protect and value
the individual nature of different people's diverse view
of spirituality.
Pardee Hospital's mission statement uses the words "compassionate health care services." This extra dimension of the carefully structured statement of health care delivery expresses a faith-based system. Pardee's faith-based system welcomes and encourages the spiritualities of all people, both patients and employees.
Part of the history behind this rationale is Pardee's commitment to holistic care. The other part comes from individuals, employees and others, who struggle to be sensitive to the personal spiritual dynamics that inform, sustain, and go beyond the usual roles they have in the hospital. These spiritual dynamics may be subtle but they are real. They promote qualities people desire in their care such as respect, compassion, listening, security and peacefulness.
