Who We Are
The Pardee Hospital Foundation represents hundreds of people who give their money, their time, their passion, their advice, their talents, and their appreciation for the care they and their friends and family members receive at Pardee Hospital.
By talking about Pardee with their neighbors and friends, attending and sponsoring events, serving on Committees and the Foundation’s Board of Directors, and by making financial provision for the Pardee Hospital of the future, Pardee’s friends and employees have given over $21 million in the past 14 years.
Pardee Hospital is a county-owned hospital that receives financial support from appreciative community members but receives no funding from Henderson County. The Foundation is the organization committed to receiving charitable gifts on behalf of the hospital.
Last fiscal year, 996 people, foundations, businesses and corporations gave over $3.3 million to help the hospital purchase the newest equipment, renovate hospital rooms and work spaces, and train health care personnel in the latest care giving techniques and research.
Our Mission Statement:
Pardee Foundation exists to educate and inspire the community to support Pardee Hospital.
Our Vision:
To enable all people of Henderson County, regardless of their ability to pay, to have the highest quality medical care with the latest technology and the kindest patient care.Pardee Foundation was incorporated in January 1996 as a 501(c) (3) organization that serves as the charitable gift-receiving entity for Pardee Hospital. The Foundation is dedicated to supporting excellence in health care through both friend-raising and fundraising efforts. The Foundation is directed by a 20-member Board of Directors and receives charitable gifts and grants on behalf of the hospital, including cash, stock, property and planned gifts.
In 2008, the Foundation provided $1,888,200 to the hospital to support renovations to patient rooms, improvements to the orthopedics area and a new nurse communication system. The funds also helped purchase new equipment for surgery and radiology and helped low income patients pay for their healthcare.
The Foundation's operating costs are totally supported through funds from Pardee Hospital. Because of this support, 100% of every donor’s gift goes towards patient care.
Why a medical facility needs charitable contributions...
Pardee Hospital is dedicated to providing quality, compassionate, and safe services that improve the health of the communities we serve. As a community hospital, Pardee provides medical services to all people regardless of their ability to pay for them. Today hospital fees for services do not always cover the actual costs of care. Recent decreases in Medicare reimbursement rates, the growth in the number of Henderson County residents who have no insurance or are underinsured, and the increasing costs of providing medical care require that we seek additional gifts from various sources if the Hospital is to maintain a strong financial position.
In addition, the Hospital always strives to purchase the latest equipment, renovate spaces, provide staff with the latest training, recruit the best physicians and offer the latest techniques in patient care.
To best service the needs of Henderson County, Pardee hospital created a strategic plan for the future healthcare of our community. The top focus areas are to:
- Expand cancer, cardiology and surgery programs and facilities
- Expand services for our senior populations (e.g. adult day health, nursing care, assisted living, home health care, orthopedics)
- Provide equipment and diagnostic upgrades
- Care for the indigent in our community
- Provide wellness, prevention and education programs.
Pardee Hospital began at its inception with a $100,000 gift from Ivor Pardee. More than fifty five years later Pardee Foundation donors now give an average of $2 million each year, 100 percent of which is used to serve the community.
